Who we are
This policy is from Alicia Labossiere, an independent app developer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (“Ayemel”, “we”, “us”). It covers:
- the website ayemel.co (the “Site”), and
- the iPhone apps Budget by Ayemel, Glow by Ayemel and Planner by Ayemel (the “Apps”), including TestFlight test versions.
We follow Canada’s privacy law (PIPEDA) and any provincial laws that apply.
1. Age and your choices
- You need to be 13 or older to use the Apps and the Site.
- If you’re under 18, we suggest you talk with a parent or guardian before using the Apps, especially Glow by Ayemel, and go through this policy together.
- You’re in charge. Anything extra, like Apple Health sync, sharing with Planner or location, is off until you turn it on. You can turn it off again any time.
- If you think someone under 13 has sent us information, tell us and we’ll delete it.
2. What the website collects
TestFlight sign-up list
If you sign up to test an app, we keep your name, email, which Apps you want to test, your device type (iPhone/iPad) and when you said yes to getting emails. We only use this to send you test invites and updates. You can unsubscribe any time with the link in any email, or by emailing us. We follow Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL).
To send an invite, we enter your name and email into Apple’s App Store Connect. Apple then runs TestFlight under its own privacy policy. While you test, Apple may pass us crash reports, usage data and any feedback you send in TestFlight.
Feedback and bug reports
If you use the feedback form, we keep what kind of request it is, which App, your title and description, App version, iOS version, device, any screenshot you add, and your email. If you tick the box, we’ll email you when your request’s status changes.
Please don’t put health, money or other private details in feedback or screenshots. If a screenshot shows personal details, we may delete it or blur the personal details.
Good ideas may go on our public feature board. We only show the idea’s title and description, never your name or email.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply and keep track of support requests. Emails sent from Contact Developer inside Budget by Ayemel also include the app version, build number and iOS version, so we can help faster.
Technical data
Like most websites, our web host’s servers keep basic logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, to keep the Site safe and working. We don’t use ad cookies or track you across other websites.
3. What the Apps do with your data
The Apps are built so we never receive what you enter.
Budget by Ayemel
- Where it’s kept: your accounts, balances, income, bills, budgets and goals are kept on your iPhone and synced through your own private iCloud. We can’t see them.
- Partner sharing: if you share a budget with a partner, it uses an Apple iCloud share. You both read and change the budget through iCloud’s shared space. We never see either person’s data.
- Bank: Budget doesn’t connect to your bank.
- Widgets: they show a copy of your totals and upcoming bills that stays on your iPhone (in an on-device Apple “App Group”).
- No extras: Budget doesn’t use Apple Health, analytics or any third-party code.
- Exchange rates: if you use a foreign currency, Budget gets exchange rates from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.app, which uses European Central Bank reference rates) over a secure HTTPS connection. It only sends currency codes and sometimes a date, never your amounts or other data. The rates are saved on your iPhone. This is the only web request Budget makes.
Glow by Ayemel
- Where it’s kept: your cycle and period logs, symptoms, medications and doses, habits, sleep, movement, meals, water and notes are kept on your iPhone only. Not in iCloud, and not on any server.
- Widgets: they read a copy that stays on your iPhone (in an on-device App Group).
- Face ID: your iPhone handles Face ID lock. We never get your face data.
- Your age: We ask for your birth year to confirm you meet our minimum age of 13 and to tailor content to your age. For users under 18, features related to trying to conceive are not shown. Your birth year is stored only on your device and is never shared. If you’re under 13, you can’t use Glow by Ayemel.
- Doctor’s Reports: made on your iPhone, and only shared if you choose to share them.
Planner by Ayemel
- Calendars and reminders: Planner reads and edits your events and reminders right in Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders. They sync through your own accounts (iCloud, Google or others on your iPhone), the same as always. We don’t keep a copy.
- Planner’s own data syncs through your private iCloud: categories and colours, countdowns, Ideas (title, note, link and photo), subtasks, focus picks and settings. We can’t see it.
- Location (coming soon): “When I Leave” and “When I Get Home” reminders will use your location on your iPhone only, just for that alert. It’s never sent to us.
- Lock Screen widgets never show period or medication details.
- No accounts, analytics, ads or tracking.
Sharing between the Apps
Share with Planner is off unless you turn it on.
- From Glow by Ayemel, you can share up to three summaries, each off by default: predicted period days, medication names with reminder and refill times, and habit summaries. Dose history isn’t shared.
- From Budget by Ayemel, Planner gets your goals’ name, type, icon, colour, percent saved, target date and status. No dollar amounts are shared.
These summaries are files in a folder the apps share on your iPhone (an Apple App Group). Planner can only read them, they never leave your phone, and turning the setting off deletes the file.
Apple Health
Apple Health sync is off unless you turn it on. You choose each type of data in Apple’s permission screen.
Glow by Ayemel can read: Sleep Analysis, Steps, Active Energy, Exercise Time, Walking/Running Distance, Workouts, Body Mass (weight), Dietary Water, Menstrual Flow, Spotting, Cervical Mucus Quality, Ovulation Test Result, Basal Body Temperature, Mindful Sessions, Toothbrushing, Resting Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability, and State of Mind (iOS 18 and later).
Glow by Ayemel can write: Menstrual Flow, Spotting, Toothbrushing, Body Mass (weight), Dietary Water, Mindful Sessions and Workouts.
Planner by Ayemel only reads period days (Menstrual Flow) and never writes anything. It only asks if you turn on Show Period Days, which is off by default.
Budget by Ayemel doesn’t use Apple Health.
What we promise about Apple Health data:
- We use it only to run the Apps’ features for you.
- We never use it for ads, marketing or data mining, and we never sell it or share it with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else.
- It never leaves Apple Health or your iPhone through us. We don’t put it in iCloud or send it to any server, including food search.
- You can change access any time in iPhone Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices (or Privacy & Security › Health).
Food search in Glow by Ayemel (Open Food Facts)
Nourish, the meal tracker, shows calories and nutrients. Calorie goals are optional. Food search first uses the Canadian Nutrient File, which is built into the app and stays on your iPhone. To find more foods, the app sends only your search words and scanned barcodes to Open Food Facts, an outside food database. Nothing else is sent: no account, health data, meal logs or Apple Health data. Open Food Facts handles these requests under its own privacy policy, and like any website it may see your IP address.
Reminders and notifications
All reminders in all three Apps are scheduled on your iPhone (local notifications). We don’t send them from a server.
- Budget: payday, bill, trial and budget alerts, and the month-end wrap-up. The only messages from outside are Apple’s silent iCloud sync signals, which you don’t see.
- Glow: all reminders are local. No remote push and no server.
- Planner: all reminders are local.
Purchases
Apple handles subscriptions and lifetime purchases. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the App whether you’ve paid, and gives us sales totals (not tied to you) in App Store Connect.
Crash reports
The Apps have no third-party crash or analytics tools. If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage stats.
Saving and deleting your data
You can export your data from the Apps any time, even without a subscription. Deleting an App removes its data from your iPhone. Data in your iCloud can be removed in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.
4. How we use information
We only use what we collect to:
- send TestFlight invites and updates you asked for;
- read and answer feedback, bug reports and support emails;
- make the Apps and the Site better;
- keep the Site safe; and
- follow the law.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, don’t use it for targeted ads, and don’t build profiles about you.
5. Who we share it with
Only these services, and only as much as needed:
- Apple — TestFlight invites, App Store purchases, and the iCloud storage you control.
- Open Food Facts — gets food search words and barcodes from Glow by Ayemel’s food search (see section 3).
- Frankfurter — gets currency codes (and sometimes a date) from Budget by Ayemel to look up exchange rates (see section 3).
- Web host — our web host (Hostinger, servers may be outside Canada), which runs the Site and stores what you send through its forms.
- Email services — the services we use to send and receive email, such as TestFlight invites, updates and support replies.
Some of these may store data outside Canada (for example, in the United States), where local authorities may be able to access it under their laws. We may also share information if the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
- TestFlight list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or 12 months after the last test ends.
- Feedback and bug reports: 24 months, or longer if we’re still fixing the problem.
- Support emails: 24 months.
- Records of your email consent: as long as anti-spam law needs.
7. How we keep it safe
We use secure (HTTPS) connections, strong passwords and two-step sign-in on our accounts, and we limit who can see information. Your app data is protected by your iPhone’s security and Apple’s iCloud security, including Advanced Data Protection if you turn it on.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we have about you, fix it, take back your consent, or have it deleted. Email the address for the App it’s about (below). We’ll answer within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Because we don’t hold your app data, we can’t see, export or delete it for you. You control it on your iPhone and in your iCloud.
9. Not medical or money advice
The Apps are for personal tracking and planning. Glow by Ayemel isn’t a medical device and isn’t meant for birth control, diagnosis or treatment. See our Terms of Use.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For big changes, we’ll post a notice on the Site or in the Apps.
